Gullu Butt sent on 14-day judicial remand

LAHORE: A local court in Lahore sent Gullu Butt on 14-day judicial remand on Thursday.

The accused was brought to a local court in Model Town for the second time amid tight security.

Earlier Gullu Butt, the man caught on-camera damaging a number of vehicles outside the Minhaj-ul-Quran International (MQI) secretariat in Model Town, was tortured by an angry crowd and lawyers outside the court.

Gullu was attacked by an angry mob and lawyers while he was in the custody of policeman, about to appear before a local court in Model Town.

After being savagely assaulted by the public, police personnel present on the occasion tried to take control of the situation and transported him to the hospital in a rickshaw. The scuffle left Gullu Butt unconscious. Due to the incident Gullu Butt could not appear before the court.

Later on after providing medical treatment to Gullu Butt the police presented the accused in court again. The court sent the accused on 14-days judicial remand. The police requested the judicial remand from the court.

It may be mentioned that Gullu Butt was arrested for vandalism after TV news cameras caught him damaging a number of vehicles outside the MQI secretariat in Model Town in the presence of police on Tuesday.

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif, issued orders for his arrest after watching the vandalism done by Butt captured in the news footage.
