Filmistaan didn’t get a green signal in Pakistani cinemas

MUMBAI: Indian movie ‘Filmistaan’ did not get permission to be released in Pakistan.

Filmistaan is an effort to bring India and Pakistan together by showing how these two nations share same cultures and notions.

According to details, Filmistaan was released in India and other Eurpeon countries on June 6 but it could not be presented in Pakistani cinemas as the censor board did not give a censor certificate.

One of the songs of this movie, sung by Pakistani singer Shafqat Amanat Ali Khan, is topping the music charts.

This film has won 60th national film awards and other honours as well. Shahraib Hashmi, Inam-ul-Haq, Komad Mishra and Gopal Dutt have played major roles in this movie and it has been directed by Nitin Kakkar.

Initially the movie was supposed to be shot in Pakistan but the authorities did not give permission.

Kakkar told Indian news agency IANS, “We shot the whole film in 20 days. We didn’t have anybody from Pakistan while shooting the film but (Pakistani singer) Shafqat Amanat Ali Khan has sung for the film. We are glad we worked with him because in some way we wanted to collaborate with Pakistan.”
