KARACHI: State Bank of Pakistan has canceled its over Rs. 30 million prize bonds stolen from Karachi bound train on Saturday.The theft took place due to the negligence of police staff during the transportation of the money from Lahore to Karachi.
The amount and prize bonds were packed in 10 boxes and 16 police personnel had been deputed on the security. But few of police personnel left the train at Hyderabad station, when the train reached Karachi after 14 hours delay in Karachi’s cant station at 2:00 am night today; it was found that one of the box was missing which carried 1500 rupees prize bond worth of 30 million rupees.
The SBP has registered a case in this regard and canceled the stolen prize bonds. Moreover, the SBP has warned the public if anyone found with stolen prize bond would be responsible for the consequences.
On the other side police also has widened the investigation and included seven officials of the SBP in this connection and they also collecting data of police personnel deputed on the security of the SBP valuables.
