Florida: More than 100 prisoners and guards have been injured in an explosion at a Florida jail which also destroyed some parts of the jail building here on Wednesday.
According to reports, the explosion happened at the Escambia County Central Booking and Detention Facility, said Kathleen Dough-Castro, the Public Information Officer for Escambia County.
The reports said that no death have been confirmed while the injured have been shifted to hospitals.
Castro said the blast triggered the partial collapse of Escambia County jail’s booking facility building.
Around 600 inmates were in the building when the explosion happened, adding that the injured were taken to hospital while inmates who were unhurt were taken to jails in neighbouring counties.
