LAHORE: Pakistan’s Minister for Railways Khwaja Saad Rafique said on Tuesday that the country is now under democratic and constitutional set up and media freedom cannot be called treason.
Saad said that Army and Judiciary’s professional role cannot be criticized but if a certain army General has violated the constitution or a Judge has taken oath under Provisional Constitutional Order (PCO), the individual can be criticised.
Addressing the 21st passing out parade ceremony of Lower School Course here at Pakistan Railway Police Academy on Tuesday, the minister appreciated that Railway police has shown the potential as well as zeal to ensure safety of passengers and protection of trains.
The minister said that the matter of salary enhancement has been brought to the knowledge of Prime Minister, adding that the salaries of Railway Police (RP) were far less as compared to their counterparts in the province.
He assured that salaries of railways police would be increased stagewise after the budget.
