ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC) on Tuesday has suspended notification of Ahmed Ludhyanvi success from NA 89, Faisalabad.
A three-member bench of the SC headed by Justice Zaheer Anwar Jamli heard the petition which was filed by petitioner Akram Shiekh against the election tribunal decision issued on April 8.
The petitioner viewed that election tribunal issued the notification of success of Ahmed Ludhyanvi without giving any reason.
The SC ordered the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to review the matter and submit the report in the apex court within three months until then notification of Ahmed Ludhyanvi success on the seat will remain suspended.
The election tribunal had declared election of PML-N MNA Sheikh Muhammad Akram from NA-89 as ‘void’ on April 17. A petition of ineligibility was filed by Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) leader Maulana Ahmed Ludhianvi against Sheikh Muhammad Akram on the charges of bank default among others.
