ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Senate’s Functional Committee for Human Rights on Monday expressed concerns over enforcement of largely opposed Pakistan Protection Ordinance (PPO) in Sindh.
Senator Afrasiab Khattak, chairman of the committee, said that legislation is done in Pakistan about human rights, but it is not put into force.
Senator Farhatullah Babar said that the bill would increase incidents of extra-judicial killings in Karachi.
“In Sindh, 45 MQM’s workers are missing while 20 have been killed extra-judicially,” Nasreen Jalil, a committee member, said.
Meanwhile, Home Secretary told the Senate committee that PPO was promulgated in Sindh.
