Lahore: The 76th death anniversary of the national poet and philosopher Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal is being observed today Monday.
Special prayers were offered after Fajr prayers for the departed soul of the poet of East Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal.
Allama Iqbal is being remembered to acknowledge his services towards Muslims’ right to self-determination that is said to have led to the creation of Pakistan.
Allama Muhammad Iqbal was Born in Sialkot on November 9, 1877. He is also recognised as national poet, and known as Muffakir-e-Pakistan, Shair-e-Mashriq and Hakeemul Ummat.Â
He is also considered one of the most important figures in literature with literary works in both Urdu and Persian languages.Â
Various social, political and cultural organizations will hold special programmes to pay homage to the poet.Â
He passed away in Lahore on April 21, 1938.
