LAHORE: The newly elected Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief, Siraj-ul-Haq, has taken oath of his office on Wednesday.
The oath-taking ceremony was held at JI’s headquarter ‘Mansoora’ in Lahore.
Speaking on the occassion, Siraj said his party will not support any non democratic move to change the government of Pakistan.
Siraj-ul-Haq refered to JI as more of an Islamic movement than a political one. He further stated that the main cause of a poor system in the country is the weak electoral process.

Siraj met with former JI Ameer Syed Munawwar Hassan and formed a human chain with the party representatives to express solidarity.
Sirajul Haq was elected as the new Ameer of the Islamist party, replacing Syed Munawar Hassan on March 30, 2014 through a secret balloting.
