ISLAMABAD: 10 people were killed and more than 40 injured in a blast near a vegetable market in Islamabad on Wednesday morning, media reported.

The explosion took place behind the Metro Shopping center in the Sabzi Mandi area in Islamabad.
Earlier reports suggested that the blast took place in Rawalpindi but now it has been confirmed that the bomb exploded in Islamabad.
And there is a slum area of Afghan refugees near the vegetable market.
According to early police reports, the bomb was planted in a fruit box. It was a time bomb and exploded when the market was crowded. But these are initial observations, police has not confirmed anything yet.
1122 rescue teams have reached the spot and started their work. Injured and dead bodies have been shifted to nearby hospitals.
An investigation is underway by Police officials. The area has been cordoned off by police.
Traffic jams have been reported on multiple roads that lead to this market.
