ISLAMABAD: The Islamic Development Bank (IDB) has approved $220 million for the Pakistan’s Jamshoro coal power plant after a high-level meeting of board of executive directors in Jeddah.
Jamshoro power plant project have capacity to generate 600 megawatts electricity with the estimated cost of over $1 billion, Radio Pakistan reported.
The Asian Development Bank has already approved nine hundred million dollars for the project.
Meanwhile, the World Bank has agreed to provide five hundred and twenty million dollars for power supply to Pakistan and Afghanistan from Central Asia.
The Islamic Development Bank and USAID have pledged to bear the remaining expanses of the project.
The power project would provide 1000 megawatts electricity to Pakistan and 300 megawatts to Afghanistan while a 1227 kilometers long transmission line will be laid for this purpose.
