BANI GALA, Islamabad: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan fully endorsed the governmental point of view and appreciated the steps being taken by the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif for the sake of peace in the country.
PM Nawaz Sharif had paid a surprise visit to Imran Khan’s home located in Bani Gala, located in Islamabad at the eastern bank of Rawal Lake, via road without having any security arrangements, reports said.
Imran Khan gave assurance that PTI would extend support to the strategy of the government; said that there should be solidarity among all representative parties for national objectives and there should be no politicking.
Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Irfan Siddiqui also briefed the PTI leadership about first phase of the dialogue.
Imran Khan while taking to media after meeting with PM Nawaz Sharif appreciated the efforts of PM and interior minister for holding of dialogues with Taliban.
He said the government policy of dialogue has isolated the anti-peace Taliban. Imran said appreciated the efforts of government for brining peace in country. He said government is giving full time for the success of dialogues.
Imran added that PM says all stake holders including army are on the same page regarding the dialogue process with Taliban.
Imran said he had invited prime minister for holding meeting, adding that he thanks prime minister for visiting his home.
He said Rustam Shah Mohmand would remain part of government negotiating committee. He said that the government has chosen the way of strategic dialogues. Imran said if any political opponent performs good work then it should be appreciated. He said that the purpose of meeting was to devise strategy for holding dialogues with Taliban.
Imran Khan said it is for the first time that a Government made serious efforts for peace through dialogue and achieved good results.
Imran Khan said he had a good meeting with the Prime Minister and added that efforts of Mian Nawaz Sharif for peace were appreciable.
The PTI leader said operation should be avoided and the goal of peace should be realized through dialogue. He said PTI would extend all possible support to make the dialogue process a success.
He said anti-dialogue forces are active and meeting of the pro-dialogue forces is a good omen. Imran Khan said the policy of dialogue has isolated the anti-peace Taliban.
He said Rustam Shah Mohmand has been retained in the governmental dialogue team because of his experience.
To a question he said the Government side told them that there would be structured dialogue and modalities for the purpose have been worked out.
He said the Prime Minister said in the meeting that all including the armed forces are on the same page as for as dialogue with Taliban is concerned.
Imran Khan said PTI also proposed to the Government that protection of polio workers in North Waziristan should also be included in the agenda of talks with Taliban.
Imran expressed satisfaction that a consensus has emerged on how to address the challenge of terrorism.
Interior Minister Ch. Nisar Ali Khan said Committee for dialogue has been constituted.
He said they sat together for the sake of Pakistan and he would continue updating Imran Khan on progress of dialogue.
