PESHAWAR: Banned militants’ outfit, Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), has placed their conditions on Wednesday (today) for establishing ceasefire.
TTP spokesperson Shahidullah Shahid has made the announcement from an undisclosed location today comprising of highlighted points for maintaining ceasefire against Pakistani authorities.
The TTP’s announcement came days after killing of 23 Pakistan’s Frontier Corps (FC) soldiers in Mohmand Agency in revenge for the killing of their colleagues.
Shahidullah Shahid said that Pakistani authorities should stop killing and dumping bodies of TTP members in custody of security agencies.
He added that the government-led dialogues committee must ensure Taliban committee members for stopping such moves in which our fighters are being targeted, arrested and then killed in fake police encounters.
It should be mentioned that peace talks saw a deadlock between Pakistan’s federal government and Taliban due to killing of 23 soldiers.
On the other hand, the four-member committee of federal government signalled closure of peace dialogues’ process following the soldiers’ killings and continuing attacks by militants.
Moreover, one of the members of Taliban intermediators, Maulana Yousuf Shah, vowed to end the deadlock in peace process; subsequently the TTP’s announcement came forward.
Maulana Yousuf Shah told the media in Peshawar today that nation should not be disappointed as the negotiations process is still ongoing. There was a deadlock before as well but we were able to break it with maturity, Dawn News reported.
“Maulana Samiul Haq is in direct contact with the Taliban. We will restore peace at any cost,” he added.
