KABUL: At least seven Nato soldiers were killed while several others injured in result of a Taliban attack on a Nato convoy in Nagar province of Afghanistan on Sunday.
Sources said that the Taliban attacked the convoy passing through Jalalabad-Kabul Road in Nagarhar province. “At least seven Nato troops were killed and several others injured in the attack.”
They said that one tank and several other vehicles of Nato were also destroyed in the attack.
Meanwhile, the Nato officials also claimed to have killed nine Taliban in the retaliation.
Afghan Taliban’s spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid confirmed the killing of nine militants. “Nine of our attacker were killed in bombardment carried out by the Nato jets,” the sources quoted him as saying.
The clash between the Taliban and Nato forces remained continue for more then six hours. According to a local private TV channel Taliban attacked the joint headquarter of Afghan and Nato forces in Ghanikhel area of Nagarhar.
After the attack Afghan and Nato forces cordoned off the area and started the search operation.
