NEW DELHI: Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Suresh Raina are among the six capped Indian players named in the Mudgal Panel report, media reports claimed on Tuesday.
Bookie Uttam Jain alias Kitti has named Dhoni and Raina in connection with IPL spot-fixing and betting when confronted by Trichi Railway SP Sampat Kumar, informed Mudgal.
The bookie claims that four other players too are spot fixing culprits.
Meanwhile, IPL’s first commissioner Lalit Modi also blamed the two players for the heinous crime.
An Indian journalist claimed to identify voice of one player in the tape presented as an evidence.
An India Today story says that according to a report submitted to Justice Mukul Mudgal by G Sampath Kumar (SP, Railways, Trichy), Kumar had carried out an investigation as SP, Crime Branch CID (internal security) and came in touch with bookies when investigating a fake passport case in 2013.
He had submitted the report to Justice Mudgal and top cricketers like MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina’s names came up in the report.
Justice Mudgal did not give clean chit to anyone but said further investigation needs to be done on spot and match fixing.
Indian Cricket Board is all set to become one of the biggest rulers of cricket world after the controversial “Big Three” plan is passed but not only the players but the relatives of cricket board chairman Srinivasan are involved in corruption and other scandals.
