Seoul: As Samsung is about to take warps of its flagship smartphone Samsung Galaxy S5, now new report claims that South Korean company will launch two version of Galaxy S5 similar to iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C.
A new report claims that Samsung will launch two versions of the Galaxy S5, one “Prime” and one “Standard”. The report also says that booth models will have plastic cases.
The Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2014 is just around the corner, we can expect to see reports and hear more details from trusted sources about an upcoming, highly anticipated device. We’re now going through almost daily stories regarding what Samsung plans on doing with its next-generation flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S5.
Recent reports have claimed that Samsung was going to release two Galaxy S5 variants: one would be a high-end device with a metal case and the other would be a less expensive Galaxy S5 with a plastic body. A new report now claims that there will indeed be two models, but both will feature plastic cases, as metal is reportedly not in the cards anymore.
According to a report from Apple Insider, Ming-Chi Kuo, a KGI Securities Analyst with a great track record, claims that Samsung will launch its next-generation Galaxy S5 in two models, the Galaxy S5 “Prime” and Galaxy S5 “Standard”.
The “Prime” variant will reportedly use a 32-bit octa-core Samsung Exynos 5430 processor using a 20nm process. The “Standard” will feature either a 32-bit quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor or 32-bit octa-core Samsung Exynos 5422, which are both made using the 28nm process. Another area where Samsung will focus on reducing costs will be in the Galaxy S5’s display.
According to Kuo, both smartphones will use a 5.2-inch display. The “Prime” will reportedly use a higher resolution panel, coming in at 1440 x 2560 and a pixel density of 565 pixels per inch (ppi). The “Standard” will use a 1920 x 1080 Full HD display with a pixel density of 423 pixels per inch (ppi). The analyst also claims that the Galaxy S5 “Prime” will ship with a fingerprint scanner, like the iPhone 5s and HTC One max.
It’s always best to take these reports with a huge grain of salt, but the source has a great track record with revealing unannounced device information. We may not have too long of a wait until we hear the official word from Samsung, as the company is expected to announce the Galaxy S5 on Feb. 23.
