LAHORE: Famous Pakistani playwright and author Asghar Nadeem Syed has injured in a firing attack on his car while passing through the Shaukat Khanum Hospital located in Lahore, the provincial capital of Punjab.
Unidentified assailants carried out targeted attack on a moving vehicle in Jauhar Town area of Lahore, injuring famous playwright Asghar Nadeem Syed in the attack.
According to police, the two terrorists were riding on a motorcycle who opened fire on the car with Syed onboard who was going towards the Raiwind.
The playwright informed the local police department regarding the incident via his cell phone while he got bullet fires on his arms.
The incident took place within the premises of Jauhar Town police station.
Rescue teams have reached the location; shifted the injured Syed to the Jinnah Hospital and afterward he was taken to the Doctors’ Hospital.
Hospital sources said that Syed got two bullet fires on his chest and three on his right hand, however, his condition is out of danger.
The playwright is famous due to its special dramas highlighting social evils; especially the terrorism and various issues present in Pakistani society including terrorism.
Asghar has written famous television drama serials such as ‘Hawaian’, ‘Chand Grehan’, ‘Nijat’, ‘Ghulam Gardish’ and ‘Piyaas’ but his heart touching storylines ‘Khuda Zameen Se Gaya Nahin’ have really placed Asghar Nadeem Syed as one of the most renowned Pakistani writers.
Syed also wrote his own column, which was published in the local newspaper ‘Pakistan Herald’.
