CHITTOOR: Eye-opening facts have been uncovered by the India’s Chittoor police as nine-member-gang confessed to rape 59 women in Andhra Pradesh, the 5th largest populated state of India.
The gang members reportedly comprising of nine persons, who were arrested earlier the month of January approximately 10 days ago, professed to rape 59 women majorly in secluded areas after robbing them, Indian media reported.
The gang also have some same-sex worked amongst those alleged rapers while they majorly targeted couples including secret lovers, married and college students.
An Indian senior policeman and cases’ investigator, Y Harinath Reddy, told the media that 16 of these cases are on record of police while other alleged complaints were not filed by the victims.
According to reports, the brutes seized the couples in way and raped them after robbing them in forestal areas as well as captured the incidents’ videos in order to threaten the victims by publicising it in case if they report the crime anywhere.
Police managed to arrest the gang members when their attack failed due to alarm raised by a couple under attack in Bangarupalem.
All the nine men belong to Salem district of Tamil Nadu, but the police said they operated across the states of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka. Five of their alleged accomplices are in jail in Karnataka in connection with robbery cases.
The gang had confessed to having murdered two of their own accomplices, including their former leader. Their bodies have been recovered, according to Chittoor district Superintendent of Police PHD Ramakrishna.
The police said at least four of the nine-member gang have been accused of rape before and all have criminal records.
The state police had reportedly formed a 150-member team following the murder of constable Jawaharlal Naik and home guard Devendra by the same gang in the Palamaneru forest area about six weeks ago where dozens of women were also raped.
