Lahore: The local court on Tuesday has given orders to release students of Punjab University (PU) who has been arrested accused of creating ruckus.
The court observed that cases regarding terrorism were baseless and police registered wrong case on the students.
Twenty-one students belonging to the Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba accused of creating ruckus were arrested during the raid at the hostel.
Police and university administration alleged that bottles of alcohol and bullets were recovered from room 345 which was allotted to Rao Adnan who is the Nazim of the student organisation.
According to provincial education minister Rana Mashood, cases under the terrorism act have been registered against students accused of misbehaving with professors.
The Lahore police had registered nine cases against 121 students of the PU. 21 students had been named in the FIR while 100 had been listed as unknown. Charges against the students range from misbehaving with teachers, violence, damaging public property and blocking roads.
