Islamabad: Federal government has now finally decided to take serious actions against all those who were involved in cyber crimes and terrorism through mobile phones.
According to a report published in a local newspaper, the government ready to amend a bill regarding cyber crime with the consultation and consensus of all the stakeholders. The government also set separate tribunals to hear the cases.
State Minister of Information Technology Anushay Rehman chaired a meeting in which Secretary Information Technology Ikhlaq Ahmed Tarar, Chairman Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Dr. Ismail Shah, member legal Kamran Khattak, member telecom Yasir Qadir, officials of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and experts of Information Technology participated.
The report said that law-enforcement agencies had reservations on the current bill and this was the main barrier on the implementation on this bill.
“ The minister of state will discuss the bill with law-enforcement agencies and after the amendment it will send to all stakeholders,” the report added.
According to the report, fraud in using the mobile phone and SIMS declared unlawful and harsh sentences would be suggested.
The ministry of information technology seeks help and support of FBR and of ministry of finance in this project .
