With the software giant is all set to launch the next generation of its tablet, Microsoft is likely to launch Surface 2 on Sep 23.
The launch is most probably to be made at the Microsoft’s event in New York on Sep for which it has sent press invitation.
The Surface tablet will be running on Windows RT, the latest operating system from the company; however, the word ‘RT’ will not be the part of the device.
The invitation shows a screen of a tablet, which is rumoured to be Surface 2, the tablet which Microsoft hopes to compete with Apple’s and Samsung’s tablet range.
The first generation tablet from the company, Surface, was launched in June last year and later on Surface RT in October, but both had failed to give any type of the resistance to growing popularity of Samsung’s tablets and to resist against Apple’s iPad series.
Some reports claim that the failure could be caused by the higher price tag from the firm and even the company had to cut the price by 150 dollars later on.
So far following specs have been reported in the tech arena:
- Tegra 4 processor
- 10.6 inch display with 1920 x 1080 resolution
- WiFi 802.11, Bluetooth 4.0 and USB 3.0 port
- Micro SD extension up to 64 GB
- HD Video out port
- Office Home and Student 2013 with Outlook RT
- Windows RT 8.1 operating system
- VaporMg casing
- Two-position kickstand
- Rear and Front cameras
