LAHORE: Renowned lawyer and prominent leader of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), Aitzaz Ahsan, unluckily enlisted as a ‘flop recitation’ member of former Interior Minister Rehman Malik who forgot one of the shortest verses of the Holy Quran, the Surah Iqhlas.
While performing duties as stage secretary during ex-president Asif Ali Zardari’s address in Bilawal House Lahore, Senator Aitzaz Ahsan tried to recite the Surah Iqhlas of the Holy Quran, but unfortunately became unsuccessful.
Several senior leaders of PPP including Senator Ghazanfar Gul strongly demanded the lawyer simultaneously recited the Surah wrongfully, afterwards covered his embarrassment said that recitation is over now.
It should be mentioned, a petition has been filed by a leading member of Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam (JUI), Dr Abid Rauf Orakzai, who declared him unsuited to the role of senator by referring to his incorrect recitation of Surah Iqhlas.
Earlier, former Interior Minister Rehman Malik and Mushahid Hussain of ‘Islamic’ Republic of Pakistan had also made mistakes during recitation of the Holy Quran.
