LAHORE: After getting nod from the leaving president, Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has decided to move court against the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N)’s Punjab government over holding non-party based local bodies’ polls.
A high level meeting of the former ruling party held in the capital city of eastern province of Punjab where former governor Sardar Latif Khausa was given the task to challenge the matter in the court.
Earlier, the opposition parties in the Punjab Assembly including Pakistan Tehrik e Insaf (PTI), Jamaat e Islami, PPP and Pakistan Muslim League-Q decided to jointly fight against the PML-N in the local bodies elections.
Local bodies polls are expected in somewhere around December this year after the instructions of the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
PML-N led provincial government has already got a bill on the issue passed from the provincial assemlby triggering a strong reaction from the opposition parties.
