QUETTA: The chief justice of the country, Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, expresses his anger over irresponsible coverage of Islamabad shootout on Thursday by private news channels of Pakistan.
Hearing a suo moto notice case against violence in Quetta and Bolan Districts, he observed that ‘ live coverage of Jinnah Avenue like incidents are against the norms and cause panic among the people.’
Following the remarks, the chief has asked the media watchdog, Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority or PEMRA, to take action against channels management.
