NEW YORK: As Windows phone giant Nokia closing to unwrap its first ever pheblet, a new report claims that company will bring Nokia 825 after the launch of Nokia Lumia 1080p.
Rumors of Nokia phablets have been very frequent and now specifications of an upcoming handset, the Nokia 825, have leaked giving us some details of the device.
Nokia has the biggest variety of Windows 8 smartphones in the global market and the Finnish company has aggressively launched a number of new handsets, but the phablet section is still untouched by WP8 smartphone makers. Until very recently, the biggest WP8 smartphone had a 4.5-inch display. However, the company recently launched the Lumia 625, which sports a 4.7-inch IPS LCD WVGA display and is currently the biggest WP8 smartphones around.
Leaked specifications of the Nokia Lumia 825 suggest that the handset will sport a 5.2-inch display with 720p resolution. Nokia 825 is expected to power with a quad-core 1.2 GHz Snapdragon 400 processor.
“This means that the phone should arrive with the GDR3 Windows Phone update that introduces support for higher resolutions and more processor cores. The new Lumia is said to also sport Miracast and NFC wireless connectivity, dual SIM version, and the QuickCharge option,” reports Phone Arena.
In 2012, the phablet space was mostly dominated by the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 but this year smartphone makers will find increased competition in the bigger handset arena.
Sony has already launched the bigger Xperia Z Ultra, Samsung seems all set to launch the much-awaited Galaxy Note 3 in September and HTC is also expected to launch the HTC One Max soon.
The competition in the phablet space may undoubtedly increase in 2013. However, the Nokia phablet may attract customers who are looking to experience WP8 on a bigger screen.
Nokia has not announced its plans to launch the bigger Lumia 825, so we will have to wait until the company officially confirms the phablet and provide full details of the device.
