KOCHI: Indian Defence Minister A.K. Antony has said that the armed forces are free to respond appropriately to the developing situation on Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir, on Monday.
“The armed forces have freedom to respond to the developing situation there appropriately,” he said yesterday after the launch of 37,500-tonne aircraft carrier INS Vikrant in Kochi.
Mr Antony, however, refused to take questions on the volatile situation on the LoC and frequent violations of ceasefire by the Pakistan Army, saying Parliament is in session and he could not make a statement outside.
According to Indian defence spokesman, Pakistani troops violated the bilateral ceasefire thrice since Sunday, but Pakistan rejected India’s accuses.
Border clashes between Indian and Pakistan started from 6th august when 5 Indian troops were allegedly killed.
