ISLAMABAD: Expressing its reservation of causing a loss of billions to the national exchequer, the Supreme Court of Pakistan summons explanation from the government over launching 3G technology in the country.
“India has earned billions through introducing 3G, while delay has caused loss of billions to the country,” a three member bench of the apex court observed hearing the 3G Licence Auction case.
The bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry has summoned explanation from the Finance Ministry over delay in 3G technolgy till this after noon.
Pakistan mobile device users have yet to enjoy streaming on 3G as the world advances to 4G. Alleged efforts of making commission through the licensing of 3G are said to be the major issue of the delay.
The bench has scolded the Information Technology officials during the hearing saying if the ministry couldn’t have the competency to launch 3G then it should do something else.
