ISLAMABAD: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has finalised all arrangements for holding presidential election in Pakistan on July 30 (tomorrow).
However, ECP is going to conduct the presidential poll in a tensed atmosphere as reservations found between some political parties after schedule modification by the Supreme Court of Pakistan (SC).
Pakistan highest mandate holding party, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) filed nomination paper of Mamnoon Hussain from his side while the country’s third largest elected party, Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) will compete the only opponent by its candidate Justice (Retd) Wajihuddin Ahmed.
Second largest elected party, Pakistan Peoples Party announced to boycott the election as they considered the schedule change by SC is inappropriate.
Both upper, lower houses of parliament and four provincial assemblies are including in the electoral college for the presidential election.
ECP alrealy completed the delivering process of ballot papers to parliament house in Islamabad and provincial assemblies of Sindh‚ Balochistan‚ Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The election will be held through secret ballot and Chief Election Commissioner Fakhruddin G. Ibrahim told the parliamentarians to ensure secrecy of ballot paper while marking the name of the selected candidate, ECP spokesperson said.
Moreover, legislators will be restricted to carry mobile phones or prohibited to take snap of ballot paper within the premises during the electoral process.
