LAHORE: Pakistan’s largest populates province Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has made an appeal to the people on the occasion of Anti-Dengue Day to play their due role in the ongoing war against dengue virus.
He said that eradication of dengue is not possible through a temporary campaign but a vigorous and continuous movement.
Shahbaz Sharif said that Punjab government has allocated maximum resources for controlling dengue virus and is paying full attention to controlling the spread of this disease as well as provision of best treatment facilities to the patients.
The Chief Minister also made an appeal to media and journalists to play their role in ensuring public participation in the drive against dengue.
He expressed the hope that media-men and journalists through their programmes, news, articles and editorials will provide guidance at this difficult time.
Shahbaz Sharif said that government is making its best efforts for eradication of dengue virus. He said that dengue is a fatal disease but it can be controlled through effective strategy for which short, medium and long term planning is necessary.
“Every member of the society will have to contribute his share in the drive against dengue virus.”
 The Chief Minister said that public cooperation is necessary for destroying dengue mosquitoes at rooftops and residences. He said that dengue has been described as a social issue rather than a medical problem by the experts and there is a need to bring change in our lifestyle for resolving this problem on permanent basis.
Shahbaz Sharif appealed to all segments of the society to play their due role in the war against dengue.
