ISLAMABAD: Two older friends will be contesting for the slot of prime minister of the nuclear state as nomination for the post were submitted in national assembly.
From Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz, Mian Nawaz Sharif will be contesting for the post as he was proposed by seven members including Mahmood Khan Achakzai, Khawaja Asif and others.
Sharif is likely to get the support from other parties including Pakistan Peoples Party, Muttahida Qaumi Movement, Pakhtoonkhwa Awami Milli Party and others.
According to party insiders, talks are underway between PML-N and PPP to propose a unanimous candidate.
Javed Hashmi, who was earlier a close friend of PML-N leader and a senior leader of his party, has filed nomination paper. Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI) has announced a few days earlier to run for the post of leader of the house.
Hashmi parted his way with PML-N claiming of undemocratic culture of the party and later on joined PTI, which has emerged under leadership of injured chairman Imran Khan.
