ISLAMABAD: World Health Organisation (WHO) has appealed the country’s religious scholars for their cooperation and support for successful operation of polio eradication campaign in Pakistan.
WHO appealed the religious leaders in the context to stop deadly attacks on polio eradication staff by the persons claimed to be linked with Islamists organisations.
The officials has contacted KPK government in the perspective to continue safe campaign in their areas, meanwhile, the WHO organisation also condemned the attacks over campaigners.
 In the answer, KPK government officials invoked the senior religious personalities to play their part in the obliteration of the polio disease from the country by using their religious influencing power.
The health organisation officials expressed extreme concerns on the campaigners security working in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province where the attack ratio is higher than other province of Pakistan.
Moreover, at least 2 female anti-polio workers were killed in Budh Bair area of Peshawar by opened fire of unknown miscreants while in Karachi’s area of Gadap Town UC 4, anti-polio workers were threatened with death by arm-equipment miscreants which resulted the closure of campaign in whole area.
