NEW DELHI: Victim of Indian jail violence, Sanaullah Haq was pronounced dead in India as Pakistan authorities took their counterparts to task for inappropriate security arrangements for prisoners.
The foreign office confirmed the death, saying it stands with the heirs of the departed Pakistani national, here on Thursday.
The high commission demanded the neighbors to investigate ‘extra judicial killing’ of Sanaullah Haq. It also stressed release of the 47 prisoners who have completed their term and must be freed forthwith.
Pakistan also called for initiating bilateral talks on the status of prisoners and resolving the same.
Consular access
Pakistan also said consular access to the prisoner was granted after a time span of 10 years, which was not fair.
Treatment to heirs
Meanwhile, relative of the prisoner, Muhammad Shehzad said they were treated harshly by the doctors as they arrived in the Chandigarh hospital to get a glimpse of their loved one.
Dead body
A private news channel reported that the body of the slain Pakistani national will be brought back to the country at 4pm (local time) today.
