The war is going to get rougher between Samsung and Apple with both have been launching next generation tablets in upcoming months.
However, there is no doubt that Samsung’s Galaxy Note 10.1 and 2nd Generation Nexus 7 have been going higher right now as compared to Apple’s next generation tablets.
Android tablets, as per new data, have left Apple’s iPad sales behind which may also make an impact on sales of iPad 5 and iPad Mini 2.
Till end of 2012, Apple has been ruling the tablets market with a tough competition from Android devices.
Now it seems that Apple is losing its tablets war to Android tablets, at least in terms of devices sales.
A well known research firm IDC revealed that Android devices had overtaken iPads from Apple for the first time in the first three months of 2013.
“Apple shipped 19.5 million iPad units during the first quarter of 2013. While that is more than double its nearest competitor Samsung, Android tablets combined for a total of 27.8 million shipments,” reports iTechPost.
But we can’t underestimate iPad as it is still the most popular brand and iPad 5 and iPad Mini 2 are likely to anchor this trend. But there is a gradual increase in use and sales of Android tablets.
But just a single super hit device, we might say iPad 5 and iPad Mini 2, could put Apple ahead once again. In case of success of iPad 5 and iPad Mini 2, Apple will still be major player in the market.
Another player, though not so a big player, is Microsoft, which has sold 900,000 units of Surface. In total about 1.8 million units of Windows 8-based tablets were sold in first quarter of 2013.
