KARACHI: The process of deployment Pakistan Army has began ahead of general elections in the country on May 11.
Some 3,000 personnel are being dispatched from Malir Cantt base, here on Saturday (today), and will be deputed on different spots of the metropolitan where they will remain on high alert.
Meanwhile, Pakistan Army spokesman confirmed the dispatching, adding the soldiers will keep an eye on the law and order situation in the financial hub of Pakistan.
A private news channel added that the process of deployment will begin today in Punjab also.
Earlier, Election Commission had said that the personnel will guard the city and will be available as a ‘rapid response force’, while police, FC and Rangers will ensure security inside the polling stations during the elections.
