ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Chief Election Commissioner Fakhruddin G. Ebrahim has said that the election would not be delayed for a single-day.
The country is all set to hold its general election on May 11 and it would be a first democratic transition of power in the state’s history.
The Election Commission of Pakistan finalised its security plan on Thursday for the election during a meeting held under chairmanship of the CEC.
The security during the polls is major problem for the caretaker setup and the election commission as several political parties and leaders become target of the terrorist during their candidatures.
Representatives of provincial governments, ministry of defence and interior were also present in the meeting to devise comprehensive security plan for the election. They specially reviewed the law and order situation in Karachi, Quetta and Peshawar cities.
Addressing the meeting, the CEC said that the election could not be delayed for a single-day, adding that the polls would be held on time. He said that the help of army and rangers will be taken on the day of polling.
