RAWALPINDI: An Anti-Terrorism Court Rawalpindi on Thursday permitted Federal Investigation Authority (FIA) to arrest and investigate former military ruler General (retd) Pervez Musharraf in Benazir Bhutto murder case.
An investigation officer in the case filed an application in the court and requested permission to arrest the former president for investigation.
He pleaded that Musharraf’s interim bail had been cancelled by the Lahore High Court Rawalpindi bench.
The court accepted the plea and permitted the FIA to arrest Musharraf for investigation in the case.
Later, while speaking to media, FIA’s Prosecutor General Chaudhry Zulfiqar said that Musharraf would be produced before the court on Friday (tomorrow) after the arrest, however, a joint investigation team would decided about the remand.
“Musharraf would be investigated in the sub-jail.”
Afshan Adil, the counsel of Musharraf, said that his client was being treated unjustly, adding that the Islamabad High Court’s (IHC) verdict was unconstitutional and illegal.
