Islamabad: Pakistani political parties on Monday demanded the newly installed caretaker government to immediately remove interim interior minister over favouring PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif.
The political parties which demanded removal of the minister include Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaf (PTI), Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Awami National Party (ANP), Muttahida Qaumi Movement.
Giving his response, the PPP leader Samsam Bokhari told media that the interior minister no more remains unbiased after he gave a statement favouring Nawaz Sharif.
“PPP will file a reference against the appointment of the interim interior minister on Tuesday,” he said.
On the other hand, in a statement issued on Monday, the PTI spokesman said that Malik Mohammad Habib Khan had become biased after he had supported the PML-N chief.
“He termed Nawaz Sharif as the sympathizer of the Pakistani nation and this is not acceptable to us,” Shafqat Mehmood added.
Awami National Party and MQM have also demanded the removal of Habib Khan.
The MQM Coordination Committee said that the minister’s statement had created doubts over fair and free elections in the country.
