KASUR: The nomination papers of former President General (retd) Pervez Musharraf for NA-139 constituency have been rejected by the Returning Officer in Kasur.
A local lawyer, Javed Kasuri Advocate, had raised objections over the candidacy of Musharraf, saying that he does not qualify to contest elections under Article 62, 63 of the constitution.
Mohammad Saleem, the RO, accepted the objections and rejected the former dictator’s nomination papers.
Musharraf filed papers to contest the general elections from four seats, Karachi, Islamabad, Chitral and Kasur.
Moreover, Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) Leader Ahsan Iqbal has also moved the Election Commission of Pakistan against Musharraf.
He has prayed the ECP to disqualify the former president saying he has damaged the country’s Constitution for several times.
