Karachi: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Friday gave 15 days to Sindh government to improve law and order situation in Karachi, the financial hub of the country.
A larger bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry while hearing Karachi unrest case in directed Sindh chief secretary, Rangers and police to produce joint report over no-go areas in the city.
Earlier, Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry on Friday rejected the reports filed by Ranger, Police and Chief Secretary separately over no-go areas in Karachi and remarked that the court has directed them to submit joint report.
An apex court bench directed DG Rangers and IG Sindh police to personally supervise the operation against no-go areas in the city.
The court rejecting the separate reports, ordered DG Rangers and IG police to go and immediately make joint report and submit in the Supreme Court.
“The court wants immediate peace in the city,” the bench said and added that the peace could be restored by implementing the court’s October 6, 2011 order.
It is pertinent to mention here that the family of Arshad Pappu, the Lyari gang warlord who was tortured to death by another group last week, also present in the court room.
