Islamabad: The Supreme Court of Pakistan held the Inspector General (IG) police of Punjab and the Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore for an incident in the Joseph Colony of the city in which a mob burnt more than 150 Christian homes over an alleged blasphemy.
The apex court said in its short order of the suo motu case that such neglect by the authorities is intolerable.
A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry is hearing the case.
The hearing of the case is adjourned till March 18.
A mob of reportedly 3,000 people torched more than 150 houses of Christian community on March 9 (Saturday) over alleged sacrilegious remarks against Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) by a 28-year-old Christian sanitation worker, Sava Masih.
