Islamabad: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Monday rejected report over Joseph Town tragedy submitted by the Punjab government.
Punjab Advocate General Ashtar Osaf submitted the interim report of the provincial government over the tragedy in the apex court during the proceeding of sou motu notice.
The AG in its report told the apex court that compensation had been provided to affectees while rebuilding of their house was underway.
The CJ remarked that it was nothing but just his (the AG) duty and the responsibility of the Punjab government.
The court rejected the report saying the reasons behind the incident and perpetrators were not mentioned.
An angry mob on Saturday ransacked and burnt over 70 houses in the Joseph Town after an alleged incident of blasphemy.
The court said that whenever the incidents like Joseph Town occurred the Punjab government did not respond.
