Peshawar: The Grand Tribal Jirga, which was given mandate by the Jamiat Ulemai-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) All Parties Conference (APC) to hold negotiations with the Taliban, on Friday met Governor Khyber Pakhtunkhua (KPK) Engineer Shaukatullah, in order to initiate the peace process.
The jirga presented recommendations, which were earlier approved by the APC, to the KPK governor.
The governor said that he had received recommendations for peace talks with Taliban and he would again contact the jirga.
He further said that he would help the jirga at every level and would direct the political agents of the agencies in the tribal region to assist the grand jirga.
Speaking on the occasion, the JUI-F chief said that the jirga had sought help from the governor for peace talks with the militants.
He further said that the jirga had also informed governor regarding the pathway for the negotiations with the militant faction.
