Geo News’ correspondent Malik Mumtaz gunned down in North Waziristan

Miranshah: A local journalist affiliated with a leading private news television of Pakistan was gunned down in Miranshah, a town and administrative headquarters of the North Waziristan Agency of the country’s northwestern tribal region.

Pakistan is the most dangerous country in South Asia for journalists as according to a report by South Asia Media Monitor 2012 at least 25 journalists lost their lives in the region.

Malik Mumtaz, the journalist, was associated with Geo News and he was shot dead at Chasmapul area of the town when he was coming back to his home in his vehicle.

Political Administration says investigation into the incident are being carried out and his body has been moved to hospital for autopsy.

All journalists’ associations have strongly condemned the incident and demanded the government to nab the elements behind the killing of journalists.

The victim is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter.
