Nawaz, Pir Pagara agree on electoral alliance

Karachi: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif has said that his party will make an alliance with the Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) and National People’s Party (NPP) in upcoming elections.

The PML-N President met Pir Pagara, the PML-F chief, here in Kangri House on Tuesday.

NPP Chief Ghulam Murtaza Jatoi, Opposition Leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and Mumtaz Bhutto were also present in the meeting.

Speaking to the media after the meeting, Shairf said a group which had separated from the coalition government wanted control over the interim setup.

Replying to query, he said that the election would be held on time, adding that no one had power to postpone the polls.

“We wanted to bring change in Sindh,” he said.

The former prime minister demanded the government to change politically appointed governor.  He said that Karachi had been taken hostage by the criminals, adding that people were being killed on daily basis.

He said that Shahzeb Khan’s murder could have been averted by implementing the Supreme Court’s order pertaining to militant wings in political parties.

He said that that repealing of the Sindh local government act was the success of the people of the province.

Earlier, the PML-N leadership visited the residence of Jamaat-i-Islami Leader Professor Ghafoor Ahmed and offered condolence on his demise.

Nawaz told reporters at Ahmed’s residence that the PML-N would contest the upcoming election with an alliance in Karachi to make the city free of criminals.
