Karachi: Sindh Education Minister Pir Mazharul Haq has said that the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) would establish three universities in Hyderabad not one.
Clarifying his Saturday’s speech that he would not let any new government university to be established in Hyderabad at any cost, the education minister denied the remarks saying their government is not against any new public sector university in the city.
He said that he was misquoted over the issue, adding that conspiracies were being hatched against the Sindh University. “We will establish three government universities in Hyderabad not one.”
The minister said that he had sent text to Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM) leader Faisal Sabzwari on Saturday night and clarified his remarks. He added that Sabzwari had asked him to elucidate his statement on media.
The Rabita (Coordination) Committee of the MQM severely criticised Haq’s statement what it called the beginning of Sindhi-Muhajir divide in the province.
