Islamabad: Amid a looming political crisis in Pakistan, authorities have been ordered to check the maintenance of an aircraft being used in President Asif Ali Zardari, a report said on Tuesday.
According to a private news television Express News, the crew of the aircraft has been put on standby.
The development came on a day when the country’s apex court ordered the arrest of Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf in a corruption case and Canadian-Pakistani cleric Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri is holding a long march in Islamabad, the Pakistani capital.
However, our sources in Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) said that President Asif Ali Zardari is still in Bilawal House, a presidential camp office, in Karachi and has no plan to leave the country.
The sources denied the Indian media reports regarding the president’s departure to Dubai from Karachi airport.
“Some reports said Zardari flew to Dubai from Karachi Airport along with his family, while others said only Zardari’s family left for Dubai and not the President himself,” India’s Zee TV reported.
