Islamabad: The Supreme Court of Pakistan on Friday ordered Sindh police to arrest Shahzeb Khan’s murderers within 24 hours and directed authorities to freeze the property and bank accounts of two nominated accused.
Three member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry began the hearing of suo moto notice of the brutal murder of Shahzeb Khan.
The chief justice expressed annoyance over the absence of Inspector General Sindh Fayyaz Leghari and the advocate general Sindh.
He said that the police had asked to arrest the killers and present them in the court five days ago. The CJ also alleged that IG Sindh was deliberately not appearing before the court.
On this, Additional IG Sindh told the bench that efforts were underway to arrest the culprits. “Raids are being carried out to arrest Siraj Talpur and Shahrukh Jatoi.”
Subsequently, the SC ordered police to produce the murderers before the bench with 24 hours and adjourned the hearing of the case till January 7.
