Karachi: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) on Friday moved petition in the Supreme Court of Pakistan Karachi Registry to seek exemption for its chief Altaf Hussain from appearing before the apex court in contempt of court case.
The petitioners, MQM’s Senator Dr Farogh Naseem and Kazi Khalid Ali Advocate, have pleaded the court that Hussain’s lovers think that his life is in danger in the country.
Hussain had been ordered by the country’s apex court to appear before it on January 7 in contempt of court case.
The petitioners said that any person can file a plea to seek immunity from appearing before the court under the Section 17/2. They added that Farooq Sattar, the member of National Assembly, wanted to appear before the court in the place of Hussain.
