Mhow: It seems that women are not secure in India, the World’s Largest Democracy, as another 19-year-old tribal girl was gang-raped in the outskirts of Dhamnod town of the country’s Dhar district.
“The girl, resident of Khandwa Road in Indore, was waiting for a bus at Dhamnod when Roop Singh, son of Man Singh Gujjar and a resident of Shejgaon village falling under Karahi police station, got acquainted with her. He lured the girl into an Indica. Driver Mukesh Ramlal Gujjar and Roop Singh’s brother Suraj Gujjar accompanied him. They took the girl to the ITI campus in Dhamnod where they repeatedly raped her. They later dumped the girl near the bus stand,” Time of India reports.
The girl approached the police and narrated the incident. A case has been registered against three persons at Dhamnod police station and investigations are being carried out.
The brutal gang rape of a young woman in New Delhi this month and many other rape incidents have cast a cold light on how badly India treats its women.
The report says in a similar incident, 15 persons had abducted a minor tribal girl on December 15 and held her captive for 12 days. Although eight people have been arrested, only one person has been booked for raping the minor.
