Islamabad: Pakistan’s Interior Ministry has warned Sindh and Punjab governments of terror threats in Karachi and Peshawar, two metropolitans of Pakistan on Friday.
According to sources in interior ministry, a letter was conveyed to the governments of the two provinces informing that the militants had planned to sabotage the peace in the two cities by attacking Juma prayers.
Remote control devices can be used by the militants to trigger planted bombs, the letter said adding a plan to target prominent religious figures could also be implemented.
The ministry further stated that militants were also planning to carry out major attacks in Peshawar.
There has been a surge in attacks in Peshawar in the past two weeks with militants attacking three Levis camps and kidnapping 22 paramilitary personnel on Thursday and carrying out deadly attacks on Peshawar airport and Awami National Party (ANP) gathering that killed Bashir Bilour, the second top politician in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
Meanwhile, Mobile phone services have been suspended in Karachi city of Pakistan to avert any act of terrorism on final Friday of the year
